A real live crowdsourcing example

The internet has made many, many wonderful things possible. Yay technology. One of these things is a concept we call crowd sourcing or crowd sharing, etc. Robust user-friendly templates allow users all over the world to begin a fundraising campaign literally in minutes. Let me show you exactly what I mean. Sharon Sullivan is a professor in Washburn's Theatre department. She has a passion for helping empower all kinds of people. One of her heart causes happens to be families who have found themselves battling domestic violence. She has a goal to reach $1,000 for her cause through a website called CrowdRise. Others exist such as GoFundMe, etc. She set up her page and then reached out to her friends through email and Facebook. Check it out:  https://www.crowdrise.com/ywca-ne-ks-purple-purse/fundraiser/sharonsullivan4 As an assignment, please share another way crowdsourcing is used by COMMENTING on this post. (Things other than fundraising.) Please limit your answer to one th...

Tsk.Tsk. Directions Matter.

Hey Gang: I am ending my weekend by reading your blogs. Many of you created NEW posts on this blog to share your URL instead of going back to your introduction post. Others have only one post or no posts on their blogs. So, this post is to recognize the first week of Blog All-Stars, in no particular order. Mel: Funny! Good job on first two posts Bayley: Your blog looks awesome! Loved your first two posts. Cassie: Great start to your blog. Nathaniel: 3 posts already! Only 17 more to go. Nice job. Hannah: Great job on your first three posts. You write from a very honest place as you give your readers a peek into your journey. Jackson H: You have kicked off your technology blog nicely. Darrin: Great posts. I was going to take your poll, but alas it said it was closed. Bryan: Great job of getting your posts completed. I am just wondering if I will recognize any of the games you will write about. By Thursday, Sept. 15, all MM 199 Boot Campers need FOUR Fantastic Posts. ...

Photo by Regina Cassell The Cassell family has invaded College Avenue! Welcome to Media Bootcamp, Fall 2016 edition! This blog will be a shared blog, and we will all share our thoughts as those who comment and those who post. I'm Regina Cassell, and I will be the leader of this expedition. About Me: My family sold our home of 15 years and moved a mile away to our new home on College Avenue. It was quite the adventure, and I have not fully recovered. I was still clinging to my 20s the last time we moved.  I’ve been at Washburn since July 2000. My husband, Gene, is the sports information director at Washburn, and we have two boys, Jacob, 13, and Jared, 11. I’m a busy wife and mom.  I have taught as a lecturer in the mass media department since the fall of 2003, and I am also the director of Student Media at Washburn. The Student Media staff keeps  washburnreview.org  updated with new content all year long along with producing three Bod Magazine...
