Homework options for Friday

Image
Homework for Friday… 1) Read the introduction bios posted on this page and comment on 5 of them. Yes, the quality of your posts matter. Get to know your classmates. You will have a blog group where you will read and comment on each other's blogs. 2) Establish your OWN blog on Blogger. Write the welcome post, which introduces both you as the author and the blog itself. You do not need to give your life's story. Think of this post as marketing for your blog. In addition, you also need to create the first post of "official content." In other words, DO what you say you are going to do in your first post. To turn in your blog, you must share the URL. You have two options.  #1 You can simply post the URL to your blog as a comment on this very post. Try to write a snappy sentence about your blog, followed by a complete URL. #2 Or you can create your own post. Again, try to write a snappy sentence about your blog, followed by a complete URL. Homework for Monday… ...

Matthew Gonzales Bio

Image
Hey guys. My name's Matthew and I'm from good ol' Topeka, Kansas. Last year I tried to venture off to western Kansas and went to Barton Community College in Great Bend where I was on a tennis scholarship, sang in the choir, studied journalism, and became the student body Vice-President. After spending just a year at Barton I decided it was time to come home, so I transferred to Washburn where I still am unfortunately "technically" a freshman. I'm 19 and study Mass Media with an emphasis in Film & Digital media, and am minoring in political science. I also sing in the choir here at Washburn and am part of the advanced group, the Washburn Singers. I'm hoping to only be here at Washburn for a year, and then I plan on transferring to The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). I have worked at Sonic Drive-In for over a year and a half. I worked at the Sonic on 29th and Croco Rd. here in Topeka for six months last year before going off to Barton wher...

Alexis Gingell's Bio

My name is Alexis Gingell (pronounced Jingle) and I am a Sophomore at Washburn. I am a Film and Editing major and work at Dillons. Originally I'm from Branson, Missouri but moved up to Topeka about 2 years ago. I LOVE going to the movies and binge watching TV shows because going outside isn't fun. I love horror movies most of all but honestly I love all types of movies. My favorite TV shows are Teen Wolf (which is number one), American Horror Story, The Fosters, Midnight Texas, The Flash, Supergirl, Riverdale, and so many more it's almost sad. I recently got a Guinea Pig named Malia and she's super rude but I love her. My goal is to make people laugh and to keep the laughter going.

Ali Dade Bio

Image
Hey! My name is Ali Dade, I'm 21, and originally from Kansas City, KS. I am an English - Creative Writing major, with a Mass Media - Public Relations minor. My hope for the future is to become the Creative Director or run social media for a company and to be a published author. In my free time, I like watching Netflix (too much, some may say), YouTube, or reading one of the many books that I have accumulated in the corner of my bedroom. I'm also very passionate about activism, specifically within the LGBTQIA+ community, and mental health fields.

Jessica Jones Bio

Image
Hello, I'm Jessica and I'm from Topeka. I am 21 but rather new to college. I am a journalism major with emphasis in film. My ultimate goal is to become a film critic. I have always loved stories, and movies in particular because I believe that film is the most immersive art form. I hope to get more people to feel excited about film by becoming a critic and sharing what I find great about it. I'm also a huge geek who tends to get excited about comics, books, and fictional characters in general. I admit to being rather shy but always looking to make friends.

Jessica Galvin Bio

My name is Jessica Galvin. I live in Topeka Kansas, but not on campus. I'm not sure how to put a photo of me on here, and putting photos online is not really something I want to do anyways. I get pretty paranoid about disclosing personal information where anyone can get it, hence the duct-tape over my webcam. So I'll just describe my appearance, here: I am a 5 foot 1, Asian female of average weight and BMI. I have very dark eyes and straight black hair that is almost long enough for me to sit on. I don't tend to wear makeup and my attire is a T-shirt with shorts or jeans. (Now you know what I look like.) I enjoy art of all kinds and playing Magic: the Gathering (a trading card game) and D&D (a role-playing game). I like being creative and learning impractical fun facts. I love cute animals, and since cute is subjective, this includes jumping spiders, chinchillas, sugar gliders, fluffy moths, axolotls, ferrets, mice, dumbo octopi, hedgehogs, giant isopods, puppies and ki...

I was in charge of all the students and as well as maintaining any problems the station had. Last year I won Honorable Mention in the KABs for best Dj Personality which was very humbling for me. I also had my own show every Thursday 6-8pm I go by the name Dj Average and choose that name because I'm just your average hip hop head who cant listen to enough music everyday. As I further my education I hope to graduate soon and move on to continue my career as a Dj Personality.

Hey Everyone! My name's Mallory Rempp (soon to be Baker) and I'm starting back up classes in an effort to complete my bachelor's degree. I have an AAS from JCCC in Business Administration that I received back in the stone age...2008. Full disclosure: I'm 29. So if you need wisdom about mortgages, baby sleep training or finding ways to go to bed by 9pm on a Friday night, I'm your girl. I have a flock of kids - Adelaide (3.5), William (2), and a stepson, Liam (7). I also have another baby on the way - due in March. I should note that in my early 20's I swore I would never have more than 1 child. This is a perfect example of life and how it surprises the crap out of you.  In the fictional world where I have spare time, I really enjoy photography, running, and DIY projects.  As for that change in last name, we're heading to Niagara Falls at some point to get married. In a helicopter. Over the falls. *Side note: I'm terrified of heights & flyin...

My name is Kendra Wicks and I am from Wichita, Kansas. I fell in love with people and their stories when I was very young. I have always loved creative writing, composing characters and creating new places and things. As I've grown older, though, I have realized the importance of connecting audiences to real people and places as well. That's why I am currently a Mass Media major at Washburn University. I love photography and video and I hope to expand that interest into a media career. I am also passionate about fitness, God, tennis and my guinea pig.

Kylie Coble Bio

Image
My name is Kylie Coble and I just transferred as a sophomore to Washburn University after my freshman year at K-State. I loved Manhattan and K-State, but Washburn seemed to be the better choice for me. I am currently majoring in Mass Media and emphasizing in Public Relations. I love traveling, Mexican food, coffee, puppies, and Game of Thrones (my favorite characters are Daenerys and Tyrion).  My love for traveling came from growing up with a father in the military who was moving all the time. I have been to every state except for Michigan and Wyoming, and so far my favorite is Hawaii. However, in the future I hope to live in Colorado or New York.
