Saying no to momma's blog
This is not your normal, "my day, my roommates, my car" sucks kind of blog. Above all, by the end of the semester, you should have created a series of blog posts that will show a potential employer that you have the skills to be successful in a mass media career.
That means you need to think about your topic carefully. Do some research. How many movie review blogs does the Web need? What unique perspective can you offer? Do you have an unusual hobby? Have you overcome a problem that you could provide useful advice for? You need a topic that allows you to produce five posts, some of which will be multimedia. Again, always keep in mind that your goal is to make an impression on someone in a position to hire you for a job.
When you decide on a topic, then you also need to know who is most likely going to be interested in reading your blog. You should tailor your posts to that specific audience. And, as you are planning your fine content, you also need to be learning all that there is to know about how Blogger works as this knowledge will translate into other applications and technology skills.
Happy blogging, everyone. I can't wait to read your blog posts.
By the way, I am your leader on this adventure. My name is Regina Cassell, and I've been a senior lecturer at Washburn for the past two years. I started teaching at Washburn as a lecturer in the fall of 2003 after moving over from the Washburn Alumni Association. I love helping students reach their potential and appreciate the privilege that receiving an education truly is.
Please review your blog posts and make sure you have followed all directions. Don't forget to read it out loud to someone to make sure it even makes sense. Happy Blogging everyone!
