WELCOME TO MY FIRST BLOG!
Darrin Does It
I'm very excited to start my new blog and be able
to share my vast wealth of information on not only automotive stuff, but household
repairs including DIY Pinterest type projects as well. I definitely have a knack for fixing things, and I hate to say it, but sometimes I like to keep that a secret. A good handyman should have no problem keeping themselves busy.
I have been taking things apart as soon as I was able to hold a screwdriver. For a while I could only successfully take things apart but, as the years went on, I was able to reassemble the things I had taken apart, much to the joy of my mother. For whatever reason, she did not enjoy seeing her hair dryer, toaster, TV, microwave, vacuum cleaner...etc. torn apart. :)
As the years went on, I eventually landed a position in the automotive business as a technician. I began my career at the former Gregg Tire, located in downtown Topeka. I eventually moved over to Lawrence, working at Midas, Meineke, and the Ford dealership before moving back to Topeka to run my own shop.
Let's just say I got a little burnt out being a full time mechanic so, I decided to go back to school and do something different, so here I am. I hope I can share/exchange some ideas and information that might be useful for the adventurous 'do it yourselfer' out there.

What is your track record with lawnmowers? My husband has the worst luck with lawnmowers and ours has decided to be a total brat. Are you freelancing to support your college tuition by chance?
ReplyDeleteI am certain all small engines were designed by the Devil. Just kidding, I have tinkered a fair amount with many different lawnmowers with a fair amount of success. I might be interested in some freelance work, it mostly depends on what type of problems you guys are having with your machine. If it is something simple-moderate, I would say yes, beyond that, I probably won't have time to tackle it during the school year as Homework Mountain is beginning to grow out of the valley.

DeleteThats awesome. I have been in customer service most of my life, including the military, so I completely understand the need and want to change careers. Good Luck
ReplyDeleteThank you. Customer service? Bless your heart, I don't think I could handle that job for very long and if I had started in that arena I probably would have switched careers long ago. Lol, I believe it is good to shed your skin every once and awhile in order to try something new and challenging. Variety is the spice of life.

ReplyDeleteI'm excited to read your posts, I am clueless about anything car related and would love to learn more about it! Also having just moved into my own place so I look forward to seeing what DIY stuff you can teach!
