Is Impeachment Good for Republicans?

Image
In 2008, Barack Obama became the United States’ first black president. After two terms of service we got our first orange president. Donald Trump, then known for his wealth and celebrity status, received serious attention for being an outsider to politics. When he was elected the country split in two. As an extremely divisive figure, the political dichotomy was stretched to its limit. Each party was frothing at the mouth and the fecal matter was about to contact the air-conditioning device. photo by Jessica Galvin Eventually Trump's behavior led to him being impeached. Impeachment is not a guaranteed expulsion from president-hood, but it very possibly could end this billionaire's career in politics. Now before we all start hoping for or against Trump getting booted out of the White House, keep one thing in mind. If Trump goes, Mike Pence becomes President. Mike Pence is a quintessential conservative. He opposes abortion and supports coal companies, the typical repu...

WotC Sells Out

Image
Post #2 photo by Jessica Galvin I have always been a fan of  Magic: the Gathering , which is owned by Wizards of the Coast. For a long time, WotC has been pushing for diversity in their products. For instance, the company introduced its first openly trans character in early 2015, Alesha, Who Smiles at Death . In 2017, a card called Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis came out in Commander 2016, the company's first gay, biracial couple. Unfortunately WotC went back on those ideals for financial gain. Two of the main female characters, Chandra Nalaar and Nissa Revene, were romantically interested in the lore. For several years subtle character building slowly brought them closer together, but when the book  War of the Spark: Forsaken  came out in November, that whole relationship was retconned out of existence. Even without the crappy writing , the book spit in the face of what the company claimed to care about. WotC had basically announced: "You know the romance thing we bui...

Sonic Redesign Conspiracy

Image
photo by Jessica Galvin When the trailer for Jeff Fowler’s  Sonic the Hedgehog  came out in April, the community had a cacophonous seizure of a reaction to the appearance of its namesake. With his jointed limbs, odd proportions and overly human facial features, he fit right into the uncanny valley. This unsettling version of Sonic featured wide-set eyes and creepy white hands instead of gloves. The creators soon realized that the negative media attention and medical lawsuits of diehard fans was proof they needed to change course. After facing devastating reviews and heavy criticism over the character model, Paramount Pictures announced that they would redesign the eponymous character.  Originally planned to come out in November, the use of a completely different character model postponed the release date to February of next year. In November the producers released the new,  better trailer for the world's favorite blue hedgehog. It showed a cuter, more cart...

Full Body Fitness For many people just beginning their fitness journey, they usually want the most results in the shortest amount of time. This typically includes a weight scale and a mirror. What If I told you that fitness can be manipulated in a great verity of ways to reach the goals you want to achieve? the most popular goal for begging fitness would be weight loss. The absolute best way that has been scientifically proven would be full body muscle building with a healthily diet full of the specific necessary nutrition, calories, and proteins that your body needs to thrive. If you build your life around a consistent diet, weights program, and your muscle building goals you in return will lose the weight you want and also gain the personal physical and visual goals that you strive for. Lifting weights will always trump cardio because cardio will burn calories for only the specific time you are doing the activity. Lifting weights will burn calories 5-6 hours after doing the activ...

HTGAWM: Conclusion

Hello everyone! Thank you for tuning in to my blog posts. From stripping down to her innocence, to attacking racism, and providing representation for the gay community, How to Get Away with Murder brings non-stopping drama and craziness to our Thursday nights. Like all series, eventually it will come to its end. Hopefully, the show will inspire a new generation of writers to push the boundaries. It’s okay to make your lead actress an older Black woman—an older Black gay woman. It’s okay to sexualize her at her age because women are sexy at any age. It’s okay to show gay love on television because it’s just love. It’s okay to call out the injustice and racism in this world because if we don’t the cycle of hate and oppression will continue. Thank you so much for tuning into my blog posts. Remember to always share love and acceptance in this world. Also, speak up for the pawns of this world. People need people and Pete Nowalk has created something that has bonded all his fan...

The Office: Character replacement and entries:

The Office did a really good job of making sure that the TV show didn't get bland and got repetitive and a way that they did that was introducing characters and having characters leave the show. It was something that I found genius and just wanted to have a conversation on why these small character roles did make a difference in the TV show. https://youtu.be/FeXWU6mp9vM

Conclusion: The Office

Overall, I hope I helped you learn more about the show that you did before. If you haven't watched The Office then I would highly recommend it to anyone that likes to watch TV. There are so many different characters that provide such different comedy that it is enjoyable for almost anyone. The Office has been something that I could watch no matter how I'm feeling. It's a well-rounded show that not only provides a lot of comedy but it also provides many different scenes of romance and there is a good story to the TV show that not a lot of people tend to pay attention to. It starts at the beginning of a bunch of people in the office who don't really have any particular meaning with each other and by the end of the show on the last episode everyone comes together one last time and we get to relive memories and stories of all of them along with them just getting to see each other after they all go their separate ways.

The Office Best Moments

The Visual Effects of The Office

Image
The Office changes all the time. Whether it is the type of comedy they use from season one to season nine or just the fact of there being a new skit every single episode. One thing that dramatically changed from the first season compared to all of the rest is the camera quality on the show. Season one, they didn't have a lot of money for their production team and they had really low-quality production. But, season after season, they completely changed what it looked like because the show just got better and more people were watching it. That goes to show that it helps to have high quality but you can still have a great show without it. The story is the most important part and they showed that in season one. Below is a picture of Michael Scott in season one of the office and how he looks based on the photo quality compared to season four of Michael Scott and how much better his picture looks. https://www.eonline.com/news/1099730/the-real-reason-why-the-office-gave-steve-carell-...

The Office!

The Office is a comedy "mockumentary" of an office space in Scranton Pennsylvania. It is showing the everyday workplace of paper salesman and many more. Whether it is the constant pranks between Jim and Dwight or the uncommon boss named Michael, there are many different interesting stories and episodes which is why it is one of the most famous TV shows in the United States. Through my next 4 blog posts I will be discussing the TV show in a variety of ways that not many people tend to talk about. I will be discussing the best moments of the office on my podcast; I will be talking about the camera quality had changed drastically from the first couple of seasons to the last couple. I will talk about the character change throughout the TV show and how it still worked very well even though many characters joined and left throughout the show.

Recipe to winning a super bowl

The recipe to winning a super bowl wasn’t pretty apparent in the last Super Bowls all the teams had the recipe to winning a super bowl they had a good QB and a good defense all of the teams that won the super bowl all had top 10 defenses. With two of the defenses being all time great defenses. Now let’s take a look at the offense the All the QB that I talked about will be future hall of fame . Like Peyton Manning is top 3 in pretty much every quarterback statistic there is. Tom Brady is wildly considered by most the greatest QB of all time with 6 Super Bowls and he has never missed the playoffs. Russell Wilson has been in the mvp debate multiple years and is one now currently he is a super bowl champion and has two NFC championships under his belt. The recipe is obvious if you have a good qb and a top 10 defense you will most likely be the new super bowl champions.

TULSI RUSSIAN BOT???

Image
Since the beginning of Tulsi Gabbard's campaign, there has been a quiet smear campaign against her name and reputation. The mainstream media and other candidates smear her image by claiming she is not loyal to the party. They call her a terrorist apologist for saying she will make peace talks with dictators. More recently however, the character attacks on Gabbard took an extreme. Hillary Clinton, along with other influential members of the DNC, claim that they believe Tulsi Gabbard is a Russian puppet. The claims that Gabbard is working under a foreign influence like Russia is completely baseless. There is no evidence that Gabbard is working with Russia. Gabbard is a veteran of the United States and is currently serving in Congress. To claim that a veteran and congresswoman is a R ussian bot should be followed by some sort of damning evidence. Instead it is a claim that has no evidence and no sort of logical reasoning behind it.  Although these smears were intended to hurt Gabb...

Tulsi's Campaign

https://dawsonpankratz.podbean.com/ In this podcast, I explain why Tulsi Gabbard's campaign has struggled and why the odds are stacked against her.

TULSI GABBARD DEBATES

Image
So far in the 2020 Democratic primary debates, most of the candidates have failed to stand out from the others. An exception of this is Tulsi Gabbard. At each debate Gabbard has participated in, she became the most googled candidate when the debate is over. She constantly stands apart from the other candidates in these debates. One of the main reasons is her anti-establishment views and her policies that the other candidates fail to properly debate. One of the first reasons that had the country googling Tulsi Gabbard happened in the first democratic debate. The DNC clearly favors Kamala Harris as a candidate. This is shown through the endorsement by Hillary Clinton. At the time of the first debate, Harris was rising in the poles and was considered a top candidate. Gabbard attacked Kamala’s prosecution record when she was working as the Attorney General of California. At this point in the race, attacking a top tier candidate like Harris was a big risk for Gabbard. Tulsi attacked Harr...

TULSI GABBARD 2020

Image
TULSI GABBARD 2020 While many of the 2020 presidential candidates get plenty of attention in the media, there are a few, up to this point, who have been relatively ignored. Candidates like Andrew Yang, Tulsi Gabbard, Amy Kobluchar, and others, have not been given proper representation in the media. In these blogs I will be discussing Tulsi Gabbard’s campaign up to this point in the 2020 presidential election. Tulsi Gabbard is the first female combat veteran to run for president of the United States. After 9/11, Gabbard joined the US military and served two tours in the Middle East. When she returned from active duty, she ran for congress in Hawaii. This is Gabbard’s 6th year serving as Hawaii’s congresswoman. When it comes to domestic policies, Tulsi leans far to the left. Her policies closely align with Bernie Sanders. Where Gabbard strays from the rest of the candidates is in foreign policy. One of the big issues that Tulsi is running on is ending regime change wars. She believ...

recipe to winning a super bowl

The super bowl in 2016 was a defensive game the broncos defense held a high powered Carolina panther offense to only 10 points which was that year the number one scoring offense(31.3) and they had a 6 foot 5 250 pound quarterback who was also mvp that year Carolina Panthers has the recipe that year right? Wrong Carolina Panthers had a good offense and good defense but Denver Broncos had a good offense and a dominant defense. The Denver Broncos were number 1 in total defense with  only (283.1) yards allowed they were number 1 in passing Yards allowed (199.2) yards they were number 1 in sacks (52). Those numbers alone but Denver Broncos in elite company with all time defenses they would be ranked number 9 all time. Those numbers are insane because modern offenses and with the rules the game is more geared for the offense to score more. The Denver Broncos held Carolina Panthers to 365 total yard but also had 3 takeaways and scored on defense to. Both teams in this super bowl had the r...

recipe to winning a super bowl

Recipe to winning a super bowl

There has been on trend on the past 5 years to get to the super bowl and win it  there is a recipe on getting there and winning it I think the recipe is a good QB and a top 10 defense let’s take a look at the 2014 super bowl where the Seattle Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos 43-8 Seattle had the recipe to make it and win it all the Seattle Seahawks that year had Russell Wilson who had 3457 passing yards and had 20 touchdowns and 7 interceptions and a QBR of 95.0 which are pretty good numbers. Now the defense aka the legion of Boom on the other hand is a whole different story they led the league in 3 separate categories they led the league in points allowed (231) they led the league in yards allowed (4378) and takeaways (39) this defense was an all time defense and it showed in the super bowl they only gave up 8 points by a Peyton Manning led offense he was the MVP that year. Seattle had the perfect recipe and it showed at the end of the day that’s why they walked away as champions ...

Cardi B and Acting

Image
Honestly what can't Cardi do? Her first acting career in the new movie Hustlers, she only gained more money and more fame; She continues to amaze and surprise all of us. She explains how being an actor/actress is completely different from being an artist. Cardi said,"I couldn't believe that I was on set for, like 16 hours. Like, goddamn, is this what actors and actress gotta go through?" The artist turned into an actress quickly. Cardi be will be appearing in Fast & Furious 9 in 2020 continuing her acting career. I'm ending this series of blog post with this one because Cardi is a smart, crazy, and talented woman. Throughout my blogs I've showed that Cardi has done so much within a few years. I am excited to see what more she has in store for us in the future. I stay partying with Cardi.

Cardi B and Bernie Sanders

Image
Back in August of 2019 a video of Cardi B and Bernie Sanders discussing political issues and questions from fans off of Cardi's Instagram went viral with 22 million views on their social media. Cardi B is one of Bernie's most powerful allies going into 2020. Her social media might be another reason on why Bernie sided with Cardi. According to POLITICO , Cardi's and Bernie's friendship is based off progressive ideals, love for Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR), and a somewhat similar attitude.  Cardi's been on Sanders side since 2016, Sander's actually didn't know who Cardi was til 2018. He heard one of her famous quotes, "He's the real 'Make America Great Again,' President because if it wasn't for him, older Americans wouldn't even get Social Security." By he, she is referring to FDR. Bernie Sanders then tweeted, " Cardi B is right. If we are really going to make America great we need to strengthen Social Security."  Th...

Who's Cardi B?

Image
I would assume that about everyone knows Cardi B or have heard of her. And well for those who don't you're in luck! Cardi was born and raised in The Bronx in New York. She had became famous at first on the internet through Instagram. She attracted a lot of attention by her "no filter" personality and being open about her career as a stripper. She looks at her days of stripping as a positive way and says it saved her from a lot of things. Cardi explains that it was her only way out to earn enough money for an education. In the end she dropped out of college... In 2015-2017 she appeared as a cast member on the VH1 reality TV show, Love & Hip Pop: New York. She then signed her first label record deal with Atlantic Record in February of 2017. Her debut single, "Bodak Yellow" reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. Which made her the second ever female rapper to do so with a solo output. This single was included on her debut album, Invasion of Pri...

4-H wrapped up

Image
The 10 years of being a member in 4-H has taught me many life lessons and given me great memories. Being in an organization like 4-H made me realize that my love for community service isn't going to go away anytime soon, so being in a college where there are so many opportunities to serve is great! I'm glad that I have found organizations across campus that are trying to "make the best better", as the 4-H motto goes. 4-H has taught me that helping others and thinking of a picture that is bigger than myself will always be more gratifying than being self-centered. I give all of my thanks to 4-H as a whole for providing such fun ways of learning and helped me gain more common knowledge as well as complex knowledge, which is something that I will never forget. I will recommend getting involved in 4-H to anyone I will ever meet because it is probably the best thing that my parents ever did for me. photo by: Alyssa Storm

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a book series written by Rick Rordian. The first book, The Lightning Thief was published in 2005 and was later turned into a movie in 2010. It was directed by Chris Columbus, famous for directing the first two Harry Potter Movies, Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire and more. The movie stars Logan Lerman, Sean Bean and Pierce Brosnan. The movie received a 49% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been criticized by Rick Rordian himself saying that he “would rather have my teeth pulled with no anesthesia” than watch the movies. In this video I sit down with my younger sister Abigail and make her watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians: t he Lightning Thief and get her opinions on the movie vs. the book.

Should books be adapted into movies and TV shows?

Image
Since the beginning of the film industry, books have been adapted on to the big screen. In the past few years, this practice has become increasingly popular. While some look down upon this, saying that the books are meant for personal interpretation rather than actors making the characters their own, others love the idea of a new interpretation of the same material. Some of the most popular movie adaptations are based on young adult novels such as "Harry Potter," "The Hunger Games," and "Twilight." As an avid reader myself I look forward to seeing my favorite books adapted into movies, however, it is very easy for the stories to get lost in translation. Books allow a story to be detailed and complex and develop slowly, which makes it difficult for a screenwriter to include every last detail. I am a strong believer that books are ALWAYS better than the movies but the film and entertainment industry is a big part of our society and culture, and it’s ...

Professionalism: The Babies

Credit: Urban Strings Colombus “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift, that is why we call it the present.”- Master Oogway. Nothing can be done about the days that have come before us, and the future's not ours to control just yet, but we can set ourselves up in the position one day. The value of anything is its next. That is why we treat the youth as such a virtue. A virtue that in many cases can be overlooked or simply abused. Telling young children the same thing there parents are told. All the things they can't do, can’t be and can’t appear as. How its instilled into their brains every image has a certain action. The young boy with locks will likely sale drugs, or the young girl with a double piercing looks fast and will likely rely on some man. When it doesn’t begin that way whatsoever, instead just a style a young child are attracted to. Society's adults are the ones who instill this standard, from a pseudo defined idea of professional...

Professionalism: Clothing

Image
Credit: SU Exclusive, Stock Vector When it comes to professionalism people like to believe it has more to do with the action of one, rather than the appearance of the same. That being so, it's not always true, and often within many corporations, businesses, and company’s it's not the case at all. Many owners, or those simply in charge may underestimate an individual by the clothes that they wear. Obviously people must be held to a standard. You can’t have an employee coming to work with the same clothes that they have worn 4 days in a row without washing. Not so much for how unfashionable it is, but rather how unsanitary this may become. That is a safety issue which is very understandable, and should be enforced. The issue im speaking on is that of one’s cleanliness, but how it can be assumed one’s productivity will lessen because they don’t wear a turtleneck instead of a tie to their profession. When the reality of it is, they work at a call office where they will neve...

Professionalism: Intro

Image
Professionalism in the workplace has always been an expectation. Regardless of your place of work. Whether you are working at a fast food chain restaurant, a young child who goes to school everyday against your own will, or a highly educated individual who makes a commute everyday to work in a skyscraper located in downtown New York with the highest level of stock brokers known to the nation. There is an expectation that people must be held to, for the business to run, the burgers to be sold, and the students to learn. This is something most if not all of us can agree on. Where the trouble comes to place is how that expectation is upheld, and enforced. Those who tend to be in power- typically older aged white men- are the ones who have created the expectation for professionalism. An expectation that tends to focus more on appearance than the actual action of the employees present within the corporation. Which all in all begins to show the true values of those in charge.  Cre...

I recommend Credit Karma because it's free and it gives you recommendations for products that could help you. Knowing your credit score and understanding it, is the very first thing you need to do before applying for any new accounts. Most credit cards companies will have a minimum credit score (usually between 650 and 750) so it is a good idea to be familiar with yours. In addition, it might reveal things you didn’t know, like if you had any medical collections for example.    Determine what you want out of your card. There are many different types out there from rewards cards, cards you use for airline miles, store cards such as V...

How to Fantasy Football: The playoffs

by Zac Schmelzle Throughout this blog we have been leading up to the playoffs, the most important part of the season. Here is where you battle through the bracket of teams to win the championship, and the seeding is based on records of each team. Unlike the NFL playoffs, the fantasy football playoffs generally start at week 14 or 15 depending on the size of the league. During this time no trades and waivers can be claimed. Your team now is the team you ride with. In most leagues, the playoffs will determine the draft order for the next year. If you feel like your team is bad, then your best bet may be to tank the playoffs for a top pick next year. If not, then shooting for the gold will always get you credit from your league. We have gone over the most basic of parts when it comes to fantasy football, and hopefully, this helps you to succeed in your first fantasy football year and the many that will come after. How to draft, and how to play the waiver wire as well as ho...
