Madeline Hill's Professional Organizations
Mass Media Boot Camp: Professional Organizations
Alliance for Women in Media:
In order to
be apart of this organization, you must submit an application. The membership
cost $149.00, but it comes with a large variety of benefits. Benefits include
access to the Gracie Interview Series, curated woman and media focused
research, professional development content and academic papers in their
Industry Resources Portal, access to a community of experienced and influential
women in all forms of media, discounted access to AWM’s Job Board, and
exclusive discounts to AWM events. This organization helps its members to
understand how the culture of television news supports or fails to support
women in the business.
National Association of Broadcasters:
This organization
is the voice for the nation’s radio and television broadcasters. NAB claims to
advance its members’ interests in federal government, industry and public
affairs, improves the quality and profitability of broadcasting, and spotlights
members. It delivers its value by providing advocacy, education, and
innovation. NAB offers resources to decrease costs and increase revenue as well
for local stations. The radio and television membership is free, and members
have access to industry resources and information, event discounts, networking
opportunities, and career development programs. Even though the organization
says the radio and television membership is free, it does have a tab section
for “online payments,” so I am assuming there are tools you can only gain
access to through payment on the website.
